Every dog needs freedom before behaviour change can truly stick
We believe freedom is not the reward at the end of training. It is part of the training. Many behavioural issues are made worse by frustration, lack of fulfilment and a dog never being given the chance to move, explore and decompress in a way that feels natural to them.
Oscar's Story
Oscar is the reason this all exists. He was not just a difficult dog. He was aggressive. There were days where loving him felt heavy. Not because I loved him any less, but because life with him carried so much pressure. I was constantly watching him, watching the environment, watching people, watching other dogs, watching for the next moment where everything might go wrong. Walks were not relaxing. Visitors were not simple. Normal things that other dog owners seemed to enjoy felt stressful, controlled and sometimes frightening. Oscar barked, lunged, guarded, threatened space and used his teeth. He had learned that aggression worked. It made people move away. It stopped pressure. It gave him control when he did not know how else to cope. And the hardest part was that underneath all of that, I knew there was more to him. I could see the dog behind the behaviour. I loved him deeply, but love alone did not change him. Reassurance did not change him. Hoping he would grow out of it did not change him. Trying to avoid every trigger did not give either of us a life. Oscar needed more. He needed clarity. He needed structure. He needed boundaries. He needed fulfilment. He needed someone to stop feeling sorry for him and start leading him properly. That journey changed everything. Through balanced, structured training, Oscar learned that aggression no longer had to be his answer. He learned how to listen, how to switch off, how to process pressure, how to trust guidance and how to move through the world without taking control through conflict. But more than that, I changed too. I learned that living with an aggressive dog is not just about training the dog. It is about rebuilding the relationship. It is about becoming clearer, calmer and more consistent. It is about learning how to love a dog without enabling the very behaviour that is keeping them stuck. Oscar’s story is personal because I know what it feels like to love a dog you cannot fully trust. I know the guilt. I know the fear. I know the embarrassment. I know the isolation. I know the feeling of wondering whether things will ever get better. That is why McCormick Dog Training exists. Not for perfect dogs. Not for easy dogs. But for the dogs who need more than treats and hope. Oscar taught me that aggressive dogs are not always broken dogs. Sometimes they are confused, frustrated, under-fulfilled and carrying behaviour patterns that have worked for too long. With the right structure, the right communication and the right commitment, they can change. Oscar is not just part of our story. He is the reason we believe so strongly in clarity, fulfillment and freedom. Because I have lived the hard side of dog ownership. And I know what is possible when the right work begins.

"Me and my partner have spent thousands on dog training sessions with no real change, meeting Kerri was such a blessing. Our spaniel Baxter has become a new dog after just one week. With McCormick Dog Training his confidence has sky rocketed. Off lead, self soothing, enjoying his life as he should. Can’t thank this miracle worker enough."

"Our missy was incredibly reactive before Kerri, after doing one of her board & train programs we can now enjoy a stress free life with her off lead around other doggies. Kerri works true magic, and knows exactly what she’s doing every single time. Would 100% recommend Kerri to anyone who feels stuck."
Kacey B. - Missy's Owner
